• Select An RV Cover The Good Material For Your Budget

Polyester is usually priced lower than Sunbrella and similar or higher than Tyvek, depending on the manufacturer. Some RV covers employ a high-quality material such as Tyvek only on the roof, using something less expensive on the sides to keep costs lower. Full Tyvek covers may be as expensive as Sunbrella or less expensive than Polyester depending on the manufacturer and what percentage of the cover is in fact Tyvek. Remember that when it comes to RV covers, you generally get what you pay for.

    Ease of Handling

Weight and flexibility may be an issue when choosing the good RV cover material for you. Tyvek is recommended for ease in handling. Polyester varies in weight, but ideally it should be around six ounces per square yard, which makes it relatively easy to handle as well. If you're willing to maneuver a heavier RV cover, Sunbrella offer exceptional protection at 9.25 ounces per square yard.

    Other Important Considerations

    Zippers

Many covers come standard with built-in zippers that allow access to your RV while it is covered. This is better than having to remove the cover every time you need to access the unit. Because Class B and pop-up RVs are generally smaller units, their covers often do not come with zippers. As you are making your purchasing decisions, read about the type of zippers that are included with your RV cover to make sure that you get the type of zipper that meets your needs. Some manufacturers put the zippers in different locations, and, for that reason, it is important to check the dimensions and location of the zipper opening to be sure that you can access your door(s).

Warranties, guarantees, and reputation of dealer

Buying an RV cover online requires a leap of faith that many consumers are understandably hesitant to make. You are purchasing a cover that you cannot see, depending on the online retailer to make sure that it fits, and having faith that the retailer will be around if you have warranty issues that need addressing. When making your purchase, look for retailers that have an established history in the business. Years of experience generally translate into better quality covers and better fitting covers. Older retailers are also more likely to remain in business for years to come, as they understand the RV cover market and understand what it takes to be successful. These retailers do not sacrifice quality or customer service to make a quick sale; they will be more concerned with delivering a superior product and forging a relationship with their customers. If you do not get friendly, fast, and competent customer service when you are exploring the possibility of a cover purchase, it is doubtful that you will receive this type of service if you have a problem. Look for retailers that offer a fit guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the cover, you should be able to return it with no hassle. Look for retailers with prominent phone numbers, and call these retailers to make sure that there are competent people on the other end of the phone. Website quality is another important indicator of cover quality. If a retailer does not care enough to make an easy, informative online shopping experience for their customers, it is doubtful that they will care enough to offer excellent quality, good fitting covers.

    Closeness of Fit

You probably do not need to purchase a custom cover to get a great fit. If you have a fairly standard Class a RV, for example, you can save several hundred dollars by going with a fitted cover. Many of these fit almost as well as custom covers, without the extra expense and extra effort (many custom covers require you to give dimensions before they can be made--who has time to measure?!). However, if you have a unique RV, like a beautiful old Airstream, you will have to opt for a custom cover.
